Our Vetted Referral Partners
We come from different backgrounds, but we’re united in our commitment to meaningful service, trauma‑informed care, and real, lasting support for first responders and their families. These are our referral partners—vetted businesses and organizations that support first responders in different ways than we do, but care just as deeply about their well‑being.
Driftwood Psychotherapy, LLC is one of our closest and most valued partners in caring for first responders, veterans, and their families. Together, we’re closing the gap between peer support, coaching, and high‑quality clinical care.
About Driftwood Psychotherapy, LLC
Driftwood Psychotherapy is a specialized mental health practice dedicated to serving first responders and those who love and support them. Founded by retired Maryland State Police officer George Forsythe, who served 26 years in law enforcement, Driftwood was built with a deep understanding of what life on the front line really looks like. Their team of licensed clinicians is trained and experienced in working with:
Law enforcement
Firefighters
EMS and paramedics
Dispatchers and communications professionals
Corrections officers
Veterans and family members
Driftwood clinicians provide evidence‑based treatment for PTSD and trauma‑related stress, anxiety, depression, substance use concerns, and the cumulative impact of the job. Their approach includes modalities such as cognitive‑behavioral therapy (CBT), EMDR, trauma‑focused therapy, and mindfulness‑based strategies, all tailored to the individual. Above all, Driftwood prioritizes confidentiality, ethical care, and a safe space where first responders and families can speak openly without judgment.
Our Partnership with Driftwood
Badges & Breakthroughs and Driftwood Psychotherapy work side‑by‑side to create a full continuum of care for first responders, veterans, and their families. While Badges & Breakthroughs focuses on peer support, 1:1 coaching, agency training, and consulting, Driftwood provides:
Individual and family therapy with clinicians who understand first responder culture
Specialized trauma treatment for those affected by critical incidents, cumulative stress, or line‑of‑duty experiences
Clinical oversight and collaboration for complex cases and higher‑level care needs
Through this partnership:
Clients who come to Badges & Breakthroughs for coaching or peer support can be seamlessly referred to Driftwood for therapy when clinical treatment is needed.
Agencies that work with us on wellness and peer support programs know they have access to trusted, culturally competent clinicians for their personnel.
We can coordinate care, when appropriate and with consent, so that coaching, peer support, and therapy are aligned rather than fragmented.
In short, Driftwood Psychotherapy helps ensure that no one has to choose between “someone who understands the job” and “someone who is clinically qualified.” With our partnership, they get both.

My name is Kelly Britt, and I’m the founder of Blue Wave Support.
Blue Wave was created with one hope in mind: that no first responder or family would ever have to walk through what my husband and I did alone.
We live in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. My husband, Pete, was in law enforcement for 16 and a half years. He started out in Savannah, Georgia, where he was a police officer for three years. He then transitioned back to North Carolina and served with the North Carolina Highway Patrol for three years. Finally, he worked for the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) for 10 and a half years, where he primarily served as a drug agent.
There was a time when I wasn’t sure my husband, Pete, would still be with us today. He was battling depression, the effects of PTSD, suicidal ideation, and a lifetime of professional and personal trauma.
Blue Wave’s purpose is simple—to make sure our first responders never have to go through the darkest moments of their lives alone.
We are here to provide immediate support, education, and resources that protect the mental health of both first responders and their spouses.
If you have questions about what a breaking point can look like, or if you are facing your own, we understand—unfortunately—and we are here not to judge, but to provide a safe, confidential space and resources.
